ACC/Big Ten Challenge 2022 Scores, Schedule & Predictions: UNC Travels to Indiana, Duke Hosts Ohio State

By | November 30, 2022

The final night of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge is on deck and features an appetizing list of games on Wednesday, highlighted by No. 25 Ohio State’s trip to No. 17 Duke and No. 18 Carolina’s trip. North to #10 Indiana. This marks the final year of the challenge as the ACC takes a new direction to take on the SEC in a non-conference series starting next season.

After two days, the ACC leads 5–3 with six games remaining, setting up what could be a memorable final night, especially in Indiana and at Duke. In either case, Wednesday night marks the first visit by a top opponent this season. As such, environments must be noisy for games that involve heavy stakes. North Carolina is on a two-game losing streak in IU’s Assembly Hall and Duke is coming off a 19-point loss at the hands of Purdue.

Speaking of the No. 6 boiler makers, they’ll be in action at Florida State as heavy favorites against a Seminoles team looking to break out of a 1-7 hole. In other actions, Miami gets Rutgers, Notre Dame gets No. 20 Michigan State and Nebraska host Boston College. Each game represents a chance to build momentum before league play begins.

Here are the expert picks for Wednesday’s action from the CBS Sports team as we bid farewell to the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Wednesday’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge Schedule

At the. 25 Ohio State at No. 17 Duke

featured game πŸ‡§πŸ‡· Duke Blue Devils vs Ohio State Buckeyes

In four games away from Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke is shooting an atrocious 18.8% from 3-point range. In four home games, he’s shooting 37.4% from 3-point range. In their two losses – both away from home – the Blue Devils were 5-for-40 deep. Home court advantage is huge for Duke here, and the Blue Devils should kick respectably enough from the outside to cover an Ohio State team that might struggle with Duke’s length up front. Pick: Duke -5.5

At the. 5 Purdue in the State of Florida

featured game πŸ‡§πŸ‡· Florida State Seminoles vs Purdue Boilermakers

These have been two of the country’s most surprising teams so far this season for different reasons. Purdue is 6-0 and is coming off wins over Gonzaga and Duke after losing last season’s team stars Jaden Ivey and Trevion Williams. Florida State is 1-7 and on course for a historically bad season. Things should get better for the Seminoles eventually, but it’s hard to imagine that happening here. Purdue can cover this huge spread because one of its main strengths is the recovery, which is one of the main weaknesses of the state of Florida. Pick: Purdue -14.5

Rutgers in Miami

7:15 pm | ESPNU and fuboTV (Try it for free)

Rutgers center Cliff Omoruyi will be a match-up problem for the undersized Hurricanes. The 6-11 junior is averaging 16.8 points and 10 rebounds per game, and the Scarlet Knights have been excellent defensively – albeit mostly against downed opponents – in large part because of their defense. Miami is still figuring out its identity and committed around 15 turnovers in a close victory at UCF on Sunday. Pick: Rutgers +3

At the. 18 North Carolina at No. 10 Indian

featured game πŸ‡§πŸ‡· Indiana Hoosiers vs. North Carolina Tar Heels

After playing against the likes of Morehead State, Bethune-Cookman, Little Rock and Jackson State at home, the Hoosiers finally have a standout opponent coming to Assembly Hall. The place will be in an absolute frenzy to see the hottest Indiana team of recent seasons take on another blue blood. North Carolina put its flaws on full display earlier this season and is still not good enough defensively to handle a dynamic Indiana squad in this environment. Pick: Indiana -6.5

Michigan State No. 20 in Notre Dame

9:15 pm | ESPN2 and fuboTV (Try it for free)

featured game πŸ‡§πŸ‡· Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State has struggled to force turnovers so far this season, and Notre Dame is among the least turnover prone teams in the nation. The Fighting Irish will take care of basketball at home and make a ton of 3-pointers. The only loss to date was in the only away game, and that was because he made just 2 of 17 3-pointers. Play this game anywhere else and the Spartans are the choice. But at home, Notre Dame can cover and possibly win. Choice: Notre Dame +1.5

Boston College in Nebraska

9:15 pm | ESPNU and fuboTV (Try it for free)

featured game πŸ‡§πŸ‡· Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Boston College Eagles

Boston College is only allowing 62.1 points per game, making the Eagles a strong defensive team that is unlikely to be beaten by a Nebraska team that plays at a relatively slow pace. BC has been one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country so far this season, but there’s nowhere to go beyond averaging just 4.1 3-pointers per game. It’s not like a bad night of shooting spells doom for the Eagles. They hit 4 of 27 appearances deep against Wyoming and Rhode in their last two games and won both. Pick: Boston College +6
